Supreme Court to Regain its Full Strength With Two New Judges

 

Finally, the Supreme Court will now function with its full constitutional strength of judges.

On Friday, the Supreme Court announced the appointment of two new judges to the top Court ۔ Justice Rajesh Bindal who was serving as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad Highcourt And Justice Arvind Kumar, Chief Justice of Gujrat High Court were uplifted as Supreme Court Judges.

Law Minister Kiren Rijju tweeted the announcement of the fresh appointment to the top court and expressed his best wishes for them.

A few days ago, five judges were reinstated for the post of Supreme Court judges when the total number was 32, but now with the appointment of two new judges, the total number has increased from 32 to 34. 

They five judges are Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal, Sanjay Karol, PV Sanjay Kumar,Ahsanuddin Amanullah & Manoj Mishra.

Right now Chief Justice of the Supreme Court DY Chandrachud is the CJI who will function and lead the Supreme Court with the full strength of judges in his time. 

Once they take the oath, the court will enjoy its full constitutional strength of 34 judges including the Chief Justice.

But the next day, with the retirement of Justice Vineet Saran, the working strength came down to 33.
